Veridos wins ID Document of the Year Award 2021
Berlin, 17 December 2021 – Yesterday, the Reconnaissance High Security Printing conferences awarded the ePassport solution from Veridos for the People’s Republic of Bangladesh with the Regional ID Document of the Year award by Reconnaissance’s High Security Printing™ conferences. The award recognizes outstanding achievement and technical sophistication of a personal identification or travel document program. The decision once again emphasizes the company's leading role in the market for state-of-the-art identity solutions.
Each year, the High Security Printing conferences honor the best banknotes and ID documents in the industry. While the focus of banknotes is on design and technical sophistication, the Regional ID Document of The Year recognizes the best new passports, national ID cards and travel documents. Thus, infrastructure and implementation of a government passport, identity or other secure identification systems are also evaluated. The jury, consisting of experts in their fields for banknotes and identification, announced the winners on December 16 in a special online ceremony.
Veridos received the award for the best new passport in Asia. The leading provider of secure identity solutions supported the People's Republic of Bangladesh in implementing the country’s first ePassports. The outcome is a holistic solution that covers the entire process relating to a passport, from enrolment and document generation to data management and public key infrastructure, personalization and document utilization for border controls. The document incorporates many security enhancements, such as Veridos’ CLIP ID color personalization technology and Magic ID security feature, which shows a waving Bangladeshi flag. These and more than 40 other security features make the new Bangladesh ePassport extremely forgery-proof.
The People’s Republic of Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has set itself ambitious goals. The country has achieved strong economic growth over the past few years. With the support of the Minister of Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and the
responsible Department of Immigration and Passport, the whole implementation of this holistic ePassport project was successfully accomplished. By building local high-tech passport production sites with ongoing training and operational support by Veridos specialists, Bangladesh adds another component needed to fuel growth, creating highly skilled jobs in production and service.
"We are thrilled to receive this award from Reconnaissance High Security Printing, a leading institution in the industry. It demonstrates our role as an innovation expert when it comes to highly secure public infrastructures and documents," said Andreas Räschmeier, CEO of Veridos. “By building a state-of-the-art passport infrastructure, we are opening up completely new possibilities for local citizens – also in terms of travel and life opportunities. We are happy to be an integral part of Bangladesh's route to the future."
